HOW I USED THIS SYSTEM IN MY CLASSROOM

  • I started all students on the same color each day.
  • If they did an amazing job they could earn up to 2 cards above.
  • I would give a warning if a poor choice was modeled. If they continued that choice after the warning they would have a card turned.
  • As the day progressed if they turned it around they could earn up to two cards returned. They could not earn above the starting color.
  • I had students color their charts in and I would walk around and check to make sure they did the right color. If they had a “bad color” and did not put that color down and changed it to a “good color” they moved another card and it was written on their page.
  • Parents were asked to sign the page each night.
  • If they were able to keep their behavior chart the whole month they got a reward at the end of the month.
  • I used these in my meetings with parents and assessment teams when asked about behavior. I made my own copy for these students and put them in my binder.
